Lindsay Lohan's BiographyJuly 2, 1986 was a joyous day for Dina and Michael Lohan. This was the day a mother, an ex Radio City Roxette, and Wall-Street trader turned pasta executive father welcomed their daughter, Lindsay Morgan Lohan, to the world. This wonderful event happened in Cold Spring Harbor, New York. Lindsay was to be the oldest of four siblings for the couple. Michael, Aliana and Dakota would come into the family in subsequent years. Lindsay Lohan began her professional working career at the age of 3 with a contract from the prestigious Ford Modeling Agency. She was Ford’s first red-headed child ever signed. She gained almost immediate attention and soon had been in over 60 commercials including most notably for Wendy’s Restaurants, The Gap, Pizza Hut and opposite Bill Cosby in a Jello-O commercial. Lindsay Lohan’s first big break when she earned the role of Alli Fowler on the NBC TV's "Another World" during 1996 and 1997. Lindsay was the third actress to play the same role. Then Lindsay Lohan got some awesome news in January 1997. She learned she had earned the role of the twin sisters in Disney’s remake of the movie "The Parent Trap." She was to work with new director Nancy Meyers on the film, an adaptation of the novel by Erich Kastner. The Parent Trap was a modest commercial success, however Lindsay earned some critical acclaim for her acting in the roles. She also won the Young Artist Award for Best Leading Actress in a Feature Film. She was also nominated for a Youngstar and Blockbuster Award. Lindsay had shown she was a able actress with a wide range by playing both twins’ hugely different personalities flawlessly. She shined in both the roles of laid back Hallie Parker and the elegant and refined Annie James. Most people were genuinely surprised to see that both roles were actually played by the same actress. She next was cast in the made-for-TV movie "Life-Size" co-starring with Tyra Banks. This was made in 1999 and was a Wonderful World of Disney movie. In 2000, Lindsay earned a promising role as “Rose” on a new shoe starring megastar Bette Midler entitled "Bette." The production was soon moved from New York to Los Angeles and Lindsay opted to drop out because she didn't want to leave New York. She handed the role to teen actress Marina Malota. This move proved smart as the show was quickly cancelled due to poor reviews and low ratings. Soon after, Lindsay returned to the Disney studios to fulfill her three-picture contract. She starred in the movie "Get a Clue" in 2002. Lindsay starred in the role of Lexy Gold for the movie. This aired as a Disney movie of the month in June, 2002. Then in July, 2002 Disney announced that Lindsay had been given the lead role in the modern remake of the movie "Freaky Friday." The role was originally played by Jodie Foster. Lindsay Lohan was to co-star with actress Jamie Lee Curtis who was cast in the role of the mother with which Lindsay’s character switches bodies. The film opened in August, 2003 and immediately rocketed to the top of the box-office. "Freaky Friday" eventually pulled in a cool $160 million in box-office sales. For the role Lindsay Lohan was awarded the 2004 MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Female. She also earned nominations for a Saturn award and a Young Artist award. Then Lindsay Lohan’s other goal was about to come true. In September, 2002 an announcement was made that Lindsay was going to be put under the professional guidance and training of mega-successful music producer, Emilio Estefan, Jr. Emilio announced that he signed a five album deal with Lindsay. He promised to take the world by storm. Lindsay’s style was to be "pop with a rock edge." The project has so far produced one very successful album in "Speak" which dropped in 2004. The album produced the single "Rumors" that garnered major radio play and its video had a ton of MTV airtime. In 2003 Lindsay starred in another Disney’s filck called "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen." The picture was based on a novel by Dyan Sheldon. Released in February,2004 the film opened to poor reviews by the critics and died at the box-office. However, Lindsay once again was praised for her particular performance in the role of Lola. Lindsay's next project was "Mean Girls" which as released in 2004. The movie was penned by "Saturday Night Live" head writer, Tina Fey. The film was directed by Mark Waters, who also coincidentally had directed Lindsay in the movie "Freaky Friday." The film, a comedy/drama, was based on a book by Rosalind Wiseman. The film opened to critical acclaim and quickly brought in over $85 million in the domestic box office alone. Hollywood definitely took notice. Lindsay Lohan quickly followed up this movie with Disney's "Herbie: Fully Loaded", a re-make of an old Disney classic about the Volkswagen Bug that comes to life. In 2005 the movie opened to lukewarm reviews. It was a major disappointment at the box office even though it co-starred many Nascar stars. Lindsay Lohan's streak of success has earned her the role of one of Hollywood's most reliable box-office draws. She now is reportedly paid up to $7.5 million per picture, some of the highest salary figures in the business. Look for her in these future projects including the movies entitled Fashionistas, Just My Luck, Dramarama and a few others in the near future. |
